U2 To Be Part Of iPhone6 Launch

U2 are reported to be planning to be incorporated into the launch of the iPhone6 next week, possibly even launching their new album on the phone.

U2 recently shot a new video in Dublin suspected to include product placement of the new iPhone. It is suspected that the next U2 album will be preloaded into the new phone.

Adding further fuel to the rumours, once the report was published in the Irish Independent yesterday a spokesperson for the band issued the following denial, A spokeswoman for the band said Bono and co have not struck a deal with Apple to release their upcoming album on its next [iPhone.]

“They are not releasing their album on the iPhone, and they are not performing at the IPhone launch,” she said”.

and then the denial was withdrawn.

Stephen Browne, an eBay employee who was near the shoot snapped a pic during the video shoot and uploaded it to his Twitter account.

The video is directed by Mark Romanek, who also directed Johnny Cash ‘Hurt’ and Robin Williams’ ‘One Hour Photo’ movie.

Last week U2 Spanish fan site posted on Facebook, “Breakfast in a shopping center and we find Julian Lennon, son of the late Beatle and very close to Bono. We talked to him. We tell him we had been with Bono the day before. He asked if it had been at the “recording studio”. We replied at the Riviera and their answer is “I think they are shooting an Apple commercial.” Again these are just assumptions but we might think : 1) The group is or has been finishing the album in a study in southern France. 2) A new partnership with Apple is confirmed”.

All will be revealed next week. The iPhone6 is set to be launched on September 9. A new U2 single is also scheduled to be released on … September 9.
