After 63.5 million Spotify streams, 80 million YouTube views, 1.5 million sales of singles from her debut album ‘English Rain’, and #1 chart positions in the UK and Australia, Gabrielle Aplin’s new single ‘Sweet Nothing’ is coming in September.

Taken from her upcoming second album ‘Light Up The Dark’, ‘Sweet Nothing’ follows the album’s title track which was playlisted at Radio 1.

‘Sweet Nothing’ ‘ already a live favourite – features infectious syncopated drums plus a giddy rush of vocals, and represents another startling, invigorating left turn.

Gabrielle’s recent underplay show at London’s Wilton’s Music Hall sold-out in less than 24 hours. The Evening Standard’s review drew comparisons with Florence + The Machine and Feist, and concluded that it was ‘A mini-triumph; greater ones will come.’ Also added to the line-up at Bestival, Gabrielle Aplin has confirmed a UK headline tour to support the album’s release.

September
27th ‘ Glasgow, Oran Mor
28th ‘ Manchester, Deaf Institute
30th ‘ London, Village Underground

October
1st ‘ Bristol, Thekla
2nd ‘ Nottingham, Rescue Rooms
4th ‘ Birmingham, The Institute
5th ‘ Falmouth, Princess Pavilion

Months of touring the world with ‘English Rain’ improved Aplin’s musicianship exponentially ‘ her guitar and piano skills were heightened, and spending most of her time with other musicians added a new dimension to her songwriting. Also vital was her experimentations with different microphones, vintage equipment and old synths.

The new album was inspired by Joni Mitchell and the production on Feist’s ‘The Reminder’. ‘Her voice is just here, right at the front, and everything sits around it perfectly. I’ve also become much more comfortable writing songs about other people’s stories as well as my own, much of which is inspired by travelling and everything I’ve seen since my first album.’
