Jason Singh, founding member, lead singer and songwriter for Taxiride has signed with Robert Rigby’s Ambition Records for the release of his solo debut.

Singh will release ‘Humannequin’ in September.

‘Humannequin’ was produced by Charles Fisher. Fisher has worked on albums for Savage Garden, Moving Pictures, Olivia Newton-John, Hoodoo Gurus, Radio Birdman, 1927, Air Supply and Deep Blue Something.

Taxiride delivered six Top 40 ARIA singles including the Top 10 hit ‘Get Set’ and two consecutive Top 5 ARIA albums.

The solo record is very different to Taxiride, influenced by Jason’s love of 80s pop, R&B and artists like Prince and Michael Jackson. “Having two Top 10 ARIA Club Hits gave me a lot of confidence in my own ability as a songwriter and as an artist to record an album’s worth of songs,” he said in a statement. “So l pushed ahead and got started on my own, writing, demoing songs and seeing where it would take me. I first met Charles (Fisher) in a café in LA and had a fantastic discussion about songwriting and music. The conversation stuck. Move forward a few years, I’m preparing songs for my own album and l heard that Charles had moved from LA to Melbourne. I made contact and went over to his home studio and l played him the songs l’d been working on and he said ‘I want to produce the album!’ We instantly clicked as a creative team”.

Ambition Records is the home of the recent success for Russell Morris ‘Sharkmouth’.

Ambition Records will release Jason Singh ‘Hummannequin’ on September 20. The single ‘Hold On Forever’ will be released through iTunes on August 16.
