Benjamin Tod has released Country Is Dead, a 12-track covers album revisiting songs by Jimmie Rodgers, The Byrds, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Bob Dylan and Keith Whitley.
What was supposed to be George Jones’ final concert turned into a tribute last night at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville as a myriad of artists came together with Playin’ Possum: The Final No Show.
Gordon Stoker, tenor and manager of the Jordanaires who spent years backing Elvis Presley along with many other greats, died on Wednesday after a long illness at the age of 88.
Even though it was originally announced that George Jones would only be hospitalized overnight for observation of a respiratory ailment, it is now known that he is being kept until Tuesday. Jones first entered the hospital on Thursday.
