Gotye Wins Triple J’s J Award Album Of The Year

Gotye has won the 2011 J Award for triplej’s Album Of The Year, with Ball Park Music and Hermitude also nabbing gongs.

Gotye’s Making Mirrors beat out albums from The Middle East, Ball Park Music, Big Scary, The Jezabels, Papa VS Pretty, Kimbra, Drapht, Architecture In Helsinki and Art VS Science.

Former Album Of The Year J Award winners include Sarah Blasko, Tame Impala, The Presets, Wolfmother, The Panics, and Hilltop Hoods

The J Award for Unearthed Artist Of The Year went to Brisbane indie act Ball Park Music over San Cisco, Lanie Lane, Husky, and Emma Louise.

And the J Award for Video Of The Year was given to Emma Tomelty’s clip for Hermitude’s song ‘Speak Of The Devil’, which beat out great clips Children Collide, Bluejuice, Gotye, and Art VS Science.

The awards were dished out at a ceremony at Sydney’s Oxford Arts Factory, which also featured performances by Big Scary and Art VS Science.
