Justin Townes Earle, Ryan Bingham and Henry Wagons will perform at the inaugural Out On The Weekend festival in Melbourne in October.

Out On The Weekend has been curated by Brian Taranto of Love Police who has planned on putting on an alt-country, Americana style festival in Australia for years. He writes:

Dear Music Lovers,

Ever since my first concert at the Wandong Country Music Festival in the mid 70’s, I have had a fascination with the country sounds, the roots of it all, let’s just call it Americana music.
Over the years I’ve had the good fortune to work with some great talent in this field like Gillian Welch, Old Crow Medicine Show and a load more. I’ve always tried to bring the best of what I see, hear and discover to our fine shores for us all to experience the good shit.

I’ve lately wondered at staging an event that celebrates these sounds. One that offers great food with alcoholic drops of liquid gold at a cool space. Not a huge festival, just somewhere to get into it for a day with friends and like minded folks.

Well, a few months back I found a home for this event on the sunny shores of Williamstown, and with that, good connections, belief, trust, fear and a lot of work, OUT ON THE WEEKEND was born.

Hey, I’m a giant Neil Young fan, and I reckon the one thing that will connect everyone at this event will be that they have all heard Harvest in it’s entirety, and probably own that 1972 classic from which we take the name of track one.

Hope to see you all in your finest come October.

As well as Earle, Bingham and Wagons the line-up also features Robert Ellis, Lindi Ortega, Nikki Lake, The Delines, Johnny Fritz, Emma Swift, Chris Altmann, Raised By Eagles and The Morrisons.

Food will be by Sydney’s leading renegade chef’s, Ben Milgate & Elvis Abrahanowicz of Porteño/Bodega fame and Raph Rashid – Melbourne’s Street Food King of Beatbox Kitchen, Taco Truck and All Day Donuts.

Out On The Weekend is on Saturday, October 18 from 11:30am-10:30pm at Seaworks, Williamstown.
