Don Walker of Cold Chisel gave a gracious acceptance speech when Cold Chisel were awarded the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music.

“This award is for outstanding lifetime contribution to the Australian music industry,” said Walker. “When we started out 43 years ago, contributing to the Australian music industry was very low on our list of priorities, as was accepting awards. I like to tell myself we did whatever we did all on our own, but the truth is we had help; sometimes very profound help, from individuals who liked what we do and stuck their necks out for us, often when there was not much in it for them. Some of them are here tonight. Some are not.”
