Adele was a big double winner at the BBC Music Awards on Monday night (12Dec16), picking up coveted Album and Song of the Year honours and Music-News.cim was on the red carpet.

She took home the BBC Radio 2 Album of the Year award for 25, while Hello was named Song of the Year.

Robbie Williams accepted the album award on his friend’s behalf and read out her thank you note, in which Adele wrote: “I feel a bit bad winning it (award) as the album has been out for so long. But nevertheless, you know I love you. Always have and always will.”

Williams added his own congratulations, stating, “It’s an honour to accept this award on your behalf. It’s a beautiful album and you’re an incredibly deserving winner and also an amazing mum. She’s an incredible mum; the hardest working mum in showbiz. Love you Adele!”

Pregnant former Spice Girls star Geri Horner stepped up to accept Adele’s Song of the Year prize and took the opportunity to invite the singer to tea.

Coldplay were also big winners, claiming the BBC Music British Artist of the Year Award.

Chris Martin and his bandmates accepted the honour via video message onstage at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

Martin said, “We just got told about winning this beautiful BBC Artist of the Year award. Sorry we’re not there, we are about to go on stage in Australia. Look at all those people and we love you and we are so grateful and we’ll see you so soon. Thank you so much and goodbye.’

The 1975 opened the show with a rendition of their track The Sound while Williams closed the show. Other performers at the prizegiving included John Legend, Craig David, and Lukas Graham.
