Andy Summers, the guitarist for The Police and before that a one-time member of The Animals, has a new band called Circa Zero.

Summers formed Circa Zero with Rob Giles of The Rescues. Giles plays bass and drums on the debut album.

Andy Summers first met Rob Giles when he was invited to see The Rescues at The Troubadour in LA by his friend and their manager Peter Leak. A year later they were recording together. Circa Zero performed their first show on July 23, 2013 at the El Rey in Los Angeles.

Summers was a founding member of The Police with Sting and Stewart Copeland. In a recent interview with the ABC’s Robbie Buck he said that Circa Zero doesn’t have the same destructive creative differences he felt within The Police.

Andy says he is not planning to include any Police songs in the Circa Zero set.

The Rescues formed in 2006 and have released three albums and an EP. The status of The Rescues is currently listed as still together.
