B.B. King Coroner Says There Is No Evidence Of Murder

Following allegations from two of the daughters of B.B. King, the Las Vegas coroner has confirmed said that preliminary evidence showed no sign that the blues great had been murdered.

Two of King’s daughters, Karen and Patty, have alleged that the singer/guitarist’s business manager LaVerne Toney and his personal assistant Myron Johnson had given B.B. some sort of substance that caused his death.

Clark County coroner John Fudenberg released a statement saying “At this point, we don’t have evidence that these allegations of foul play will be substantiated; however, we are taking them very seriously and will be conducting a thorough investigation.”

That investigation is currently on hold pending the results of an autopsy that was performed on King Sunday, something that B.B. had said he didn’t want after his death. Tests from that autopsy could take up to six to eight weeks to process.

The Clark County police issued their own statement, saying “Until such time as the Clark County Coroner determines Mr King’s death to be from other than natural causes, the Las Vegas metropolitan police department is NOT moving forward with any investigation.”

There have been disagreements between Toney and King’s children in the past including two complaints filed with the police over elder abuse, neither of which were found to have a basis by police, and an allegation that over $1 million was missing from King’s accounts.
