Jamaican reggae legend Beenie Man was not able to play his headlining show at this weekend’s OVO Festival in Toronto after he could not get a Canadian visa due to the Zika virus.

Drake’s hip-hop festival added a Caribbean Day for this year’s show with Beenie Man and Machel Montano scheduled to perform. Earlier this week, the singer’s visa was denied.

Beenie Man posted a picture showing him being treated, although it is not clear if this was on Saturday when he announced his cancellation, or at an earlier time:

Jah know…dah week ya deal wid me a way!!

No visa fi mi Canada show (I apologize again to my fans in case you haven’t seen the press release) Zika Virus hol’ mi

The same Zika mosquito gi mi dengue.

Blood test, injections, pills. Wi a hol firm still. Selassie a guide I n I right through so once mi have life me a give thanks. #Unstoppable

It also isn’t clear if he is saying that he contracted Zika and Dengue from the same mosquito or that he had the two illnesses, which are both mosquito born, at different times.

Beenie Man (born Anthony Davis), started in the music business at the age of five, with the help of his uncle who was the drummer for Jimmy Cliff. He recorded his debut single at the age of 8, in 1981, and released his first album at 10. In the U.S., his biggest hits have been Who Am I (Sim Simma) (1997 / #40 Pop / #15 R&B / #6 Rap), Feel It Boy (Featuring Janet Jackson) (2002 / #28 Pop / #31 R&B / #14 Rap) and Dude (Featuring Ms. Thing & Shawnna) (2004 / #26 Pop / #16 R&B / #12 Rap).
