Christmas Generates Record Music Sales Week

Christmas week has proven to be the best week for album sales in Australia for 2013.

In total, the Top 500 albums generated 758,888 sales with Michael Buble’s ‘Christmas’ alone generating 49,108 sales or 6.4% of the total.

Every album in the Top 15 sold more than 10,000 units with albums by Katy Perry, Beyonce, The 12th Man, Human Nature and One Direction each selling over 20,000 copies.

The stiff of the week was Justin Bieber’s ‘The Journals’ only generating 4,067 sales in Christmas week for the pop brat and debuting at no 35.

The biggest selling single was Jason Derulo ‘Trumpets’ with 51,498 sales. The biggest selling DVD was Pink ‘The Truth About Love – Live From Melbourne’ selling 42,625 copies.

The Top 500 single tracks sold 1,198,225 downloads in the Christmas week.
