In 1998 Bacharach and Costello released their album ‘Painted From Memory’. The idea for the album germinated when the unlikely musical collaborators worked together on the song ‘God Give Me Strength’ for the 1996 movie ‘Grace Of My Heart’.

‘Painted From Memory’ earned Costello and Bacharach a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals in 1998 for the song ‘I Still Have The Other Girl’.

According to Bacharach, Lorre approached him to base a Broadway show around ‘I Still Have The Other Girl’ and use the ‘Painted From Memory’ album as a soundtrack to the show. Costello and Bacharach may also compose new music for the show.

Lorre told Bacharach that unlike his current hit TV shows the Broadway show “won’t be a comedy”.

There really is a riot going on right now, so what a poignant moment it seems to be to lose a hero I never met, yet a man I often imagined as my soul brother. I worked with many of his alumni (including the man who helped invent him, fellow San Fran disk jockey Tom Donahue), and to say they and he inspired me would be a useless understatement.
