A 7.7 earthquake struck off the coast of British Columbia, Canada earlier today and the region from Alaska to Hawaii now has a tsunami warning.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service’s West Coast/Alaska Tsunami Warning Center “a tsunami has been generated”.

The quake was felt across most of British Columbia and was followed by eight aftershocks, the strongest being a 5.8.

People in the coastal regions of Hawaii and Alaska are being told right now to move to higher ground.
