Future Vs Ciara Break-up Gets Ugly

A U.S. judge has ruled angry Twitter messages posted by rapper Future about his ex-fiancee Ciara are not enough to sue for libel.

Ciara launched a $15 million (£12.3 million) defamation lawsuit against her ex in February, accusing him of damaging her reputation by knowingly making false and defamatory statements about her parenting of their son Future Zahir online.

She later added to her legal action, claiming their dispute cost her a $500,000 (£409,900) endorsement contract with an international cosmetics company because he made her out to be “controlling, dishonest, malicious, unreasonable, evil, (and) conniving” on social media.

The case went before a judge on Wednesday, when it was determined the Twitter posts were too weak to use as evidence, meaning Ciara will have to submit more proof in order to save her suit from being dismissed, reports TMZ.com.

Ciara, who has since moved on with American footballer Russell Wilson, has yet to comment on the legal setback.

Future had initially filed a countersuit to fight Ciara’s accusations, but he dropped the action in June (16), insisting he has no ill will towards his ex.

In September, he asked to have the R&B beauty’s legal papers dismissed, after calling into question her make-up contract allegation, since she had no proof of the contract and failed to even reveal the name of the company in her paperwork.

Ciara and Future, real name Nayvadius Wilburn, broke off their engagement in August, 2014, three months after the birth of their son. She wed Russell in July (16).
