Iggy Pop Performs First Show of 2019 in Sydney

Iggy Pop played his first show for 2019 at the Sydney Opera House on Monday night and served a treat of classics.

Iggy served up a generous dose of the two iconic Stooges albums ‘The Stooges’ (1969) and ‘Fun House’ (1970) as well as the pre-punk benchmark ‘Raw Power’ (1973).

Another Iggy era highlight is the two albums ‘The Idiot’ and ‘Lust For Life’ written and produced with David Bowie.

The surprise song was the last song ‘Red Right Hand’ by Nick Cave but fun fact, the song before it ‘Real Wild Child’ is also an Australian cover. The original was written by Johnny O’Keefe as ‘The Wild One’ in 1958. That song has been covered by Jerry Lee Lewis, Status Quo, Suzi Quatro, Joan Jett and Buddy Holly & The Crickets.

Iggy Pop last toured Australia in 2013. Six songs plus the additional ‘The Jean Genie’ graced the setlist.

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
