L7 To Crowdfund Next Album

by Roger Wink, VVN Music on April 10, 2018

in News

L7 have been doing the slow build back to the top for a couple of years.

In 2015, they started with a reunion tour followed by the release of the documentary L7: Pretend We’re Dead. Then, last year, it was the release of two new songs, “Dispatch From Mar-a-Lago” and “I Came Back to Bitch”.

The next step is inevitable as the band puts together a new album, their first since 1999’s Slap Happy, and they’re going to PledgeMusic to help fund the project and with pre-orders. The band said “We’ve had such a blast hanging out, writing, and recording with each other again that we decided to keep the ball rolling. More song ideas have been flowing out of us every time we get together and play, so we’ve decided to make a full length album which we will record this year.”

As with most PledgeMusic campaigns, those giving money and ordering the album will get a number of perks including video updates, limited edition merchandise, signed rarities and, as the band says, “other such bad ass-ery”.

Meanwhile, the band kicks off a national tour tomorrow (April 10) which will see them in New York, Chicago, Boston, Cleveland and many more. The band will be playing festivals worldwide this summer including Download UK, Hell and Heaven Mexico City, ’77 Montreal, Download Madrid and more dates to be announced.

Sammy Hagar’s New Live Album Features Rai Thistlethwayte of Thirsty Merc

Sammy Hagar has always had a reputation for surrounding himself with powerhouse players, but his upcoming live album, Sammy Hagar & The Best Of All Worlds Band – The Residency (out October 10, 2025 via Big Machine Rock), brings a distinctly Australian twist. On keyboards, vocals and guitar is Rai Thistlethwayte, best known at home for fronting Thirsty Merc and more recently as a member of The Fabulous Caprettos. For Australian fans, the inclusion of Thistlethwayte in Hagar’s latest chapter is a striking reminder of how far the Sydney-born musician’s career has travelled.
