Linda Ronstadt’s ‘Faithless Love’, featuring a concert from her 1980 ‘Mad Love’ tour, has finally been given an Australian release through Possum Music.
The 20 song Faithless Love set features Ronstadt classics performed while her album at the time, ‘Mad Love’ was at the top of the US chart.
‘Faithless Love’ features her incredible band made up of some of America’s greatest musicians. Dan Dugmore is on electric guitar and peddle steel, Bob Glaub on bass, Russ Kunkel on Drums, Danny Kortchmar on guitar, Kenny Edwards (who was in the Stone Poneys with Linda) is on banjo, guitar, Little Feat’s Billy Payne on keyboards and backup vocals Wendy Waldman, and Peter Asher (of Peter and Gordon fame) who was also Linda’s producer and manager in mid 70’s and 80’s..
The Faithless Love setlist includes Linda’s version of Little Feat’s ‘Willin’ originally from her ‘Heart Like A Wheel’ album.

The 1980 ‘Mad Love’ album marked a musical shift for Linda Ronstadt. Since the start of her career she was considered the west coast country rock queen. On ‘Mad Love’ Linda took a new wave turn covering three Elvis Costello songs for the record (Party Girl is featured here) and also three songs from power pop new wave LA band The Cretones, including the title track ‘Mad Love’.
‘Mad Love’ was Linda’s seventh consecutive platinum release.
Philip Israel formed Possum Music in Sydney in 1985 after working in A&R for EMI Records. Possum has released DVD’s by Kenny Rogers, Reg Livermore, 10CC, the Sex Pistols and Melanie.
Possum Music recently signed Dead In A Second, the new band by former Thousand Needs In Red guitarist Tristan ‘Trizo’ Bouillaut.
