The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Seventh Wonder will present Fleetwood Mac Orchestrated at Hamer Hall in April 2027, marking 50 years of Fleetwood Mac’s landmark album.

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will join Australian concert production Seventh Wonder for three performances of Fleetwood Mac Orchestrated at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Hamer Hall from April 22 to 24, 2027, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours. The concerts will combine the album with other Fleetwood Mac favourites, with the songs presented through new orchestral arrangements alongside Seventh Wonder’s vocal and instrumental performances.
Released in February 1977, Rumours became a defining album of its era and one of the most commercially successful records in popular music. The album has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide and won Fleetwood Mac the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
The Melbourne performances place Rumours within a concert format that expands the original recordings through the resources of a full symphony orchestra. Seventh Wonder will perform the album alongside songs from Fleetwood Mac’s broader catalogue, including “Dreams”, “Go Your Own Way”, “Don’t Stop”, “The Chain” and “You Make Loving Fun”.
Seventh Wonder singer Bloom said the anniversary provided an opportunity to reconsider the album through orchestral performance.
“Rumours is much more than an album,” Bloom said. “It is one of the great musical achievements in popular music history.”
Bloom said performing the material with the MSO would present the songs “on an entirely new scale”, while maintaining a focus on Fleetwood Mac’s musical legacy.
The production also carries an endorsement from Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood, who has previously praised Seventh Wonder’s orchestral presentation of the band’s music.
“On first hearing Seventh Wonder Orchestrated… it gave me goosebumps! Really spooky good!” Mick Fleetwood said.
Rumours occupies a particularly significant place in Fleetwood Mac’s catalogue. Recorded during a period of considerable personal and professional tension within the group, the album produced a sequence of enduring songs while establishing a commercial peak for the band.
The record followed the success of 1975’s self-titled Fleetwood Mac, which introduced the group’s new line-up featuring Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks alongside Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie and John McVie. Rumours subsequently consolidated that line-up’s international success.
The MSO and Seventh Wonder production continues a growing Australian concert tradition of combining established popular music catalogues with symphonic arrangements. In this case, the 50th anniversary provides a specific historical framework for revisiting an album whose songs have remained central to Fleetwood Mac’s recorded legacy.
The Melbourne performances will be held on Thursday April 22 and Friday April 23 at 7.30pm, followed by a Saturday April 24 performance at 1.00pm. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Wednesday September 9, 2026 through MSO.com.au.
