Melbourne’s premium live music concert arena, Rod Laver Arena, is about to undergo a bold new makeover.

The multi-million dollar renovation will include a new main entrance via a new eastern annex, new food and beverage outlets, ungraded toilet facilities and increased disability access.

For the industry the redevelopment will include increased rigging capacity and a larger loading bay.

The construction will also include a pedestrian bridge over Batman Avenue creating a new gateway to Melbourne Park. An eight storey media centre will also be built for the Australian Open.

The Rod Laver Arena improvements are part of a $338 million development of Melbourne Park. Construction will commence in February 2016 and is expected to be completed by 2020.
