Laneway Festival will begin its 2027 tour in Sydney for the first time, opening at Centennial Park on Friday 12 February before moving to Brisbane, Melbourne and Auckland. The festival will reveal its 2027 artist lineup in late September, with the new route marking a significant change to the event’s established Australian touring pattern.

The 2027 edition will introduce Sydney as the opening stop after more than two decades of Laneway Festival activity across Australia and New Zealand. Centennial Park will host the festival on 12 February, with the site positioned close to Oxford Street and accessible by light rail.

Brisbane will follow on Saturday 13 February at the Brisbane Showgrounds. The festival then returns to Melbourne on Friday 19 February at Flemington Park, continuing its association with the city where Laneway Festival began.

The Australian leg will be followed by the event’s first New Zealand finale. Auckland will host Laneway on Sunday 21 February at Western Springs, using both the refurbished Western Springs Bowl and Western Springs Park. The Auckland event is supported by Auckland Council Events.

The full lineup is scheduled to be announced in late September. No artists have yet been confirmed for the 2027 festival.

Laneway Festival has operated for more than 20 years as a platform for emerging and established artists from Australia, New Zealand and overseas. Its programming has historically crossed alternative, indie, electronic, hip-hop, pop and other contemporary genres, with the festival developing a reputation for placing developing artists alongside more established acts.

The festival’s history began in Melbourne, where the event established its identity around live music presented in urban laneways and smaller city venues before expanding into a national touring festival. Its subsequent growth introduced larger outdoor locations while retaining an emphasis on new and emerging artists.

The move to Sydney as the first stop of the 2027 tour changes the sequence of the Australian dates. Melbourne remains central to the festival’s history, however, with the 2027 edition returning to Flemington Park for its Victorian event.

The Auckland date also gives the 2027 festival a distinct closing point outside Australia. Western Springs will provide the setting for the final event after the four Australian dates.

With the lineup announcement still several weeks away, the immediate news is the festival’s revised touring route rather than its artist programme. The four-city Australian and New Zealand schedule establishes the framework for the February 2027 edition, while the September announcement will determine the musical programme.

For audiences planning ahead, the dates are now confirmed, with the Sydney debut, Brisbane return, Melbourne homecoming and Auckland finale forming the 2027 festival itinerary.
