Former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor has slammed the Rolling Stones for not inviting him to the opening of their Exhibitionism exhibition in London this week.
Taylor joined the Stones as Brian Jones replacement following the death of Jones at age 27. He played with the band 1969-1974 contributing to what is generally considered their greatest works, including the albums ‘Let It Bleed’, ‘Sticky Fingers’ and ‘Exile On Main Street’ as well as the lesser-well received ‘Goats Head Soap’ (featuring the hit song ‘Angie’.
The Rolling Stones ‘Exhibitionism’, a concept inspired by the Abba Museum, will have its official opening party this week to an invited crowd of 500.
“It appears they are using my name and likeness for another multi-million dollar making exercise. I can’t help wondering why nobody has invited me to the opening at Saatchi Gallery?,” Taylor said in a Facebook post.

Fans were quick to react with Australian broadcaster Ken Francis joining in the conversation. “Very poor form,” commented Francis. “It’s appalling. They’re letting the fans down, too,” replied Taylor.
One fan Dave Robinson suggested Taylor take his anger off-line. “Tried that method for many years and was simply ignored,” Taylor said. “I can think of numerous ways for the Stones to be more professional, starting with giving credit where it’s due”.
Taylor suggested Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will one day get it all back. “Karma is piling up rapidly”.
Taylor said, “500 guests were invited and they could not find it in their hearts to include Mick Taylor, even though his image is used for the exhibit?… They should have showed a minimal level of courtesy”.
Taylor was invited back in the band for the recent 50th anniversary shows but was let go again before the next round including the recent South American tour. “I’m part of the Stones’ history and legacy, which is what this exhibition is about, isn’t it. The band’s best work – both in the studio and on stage – was done while I was involved”.
The Rolling Stones ‘Exhibitionism’ is on in London from April 5 to September 4, 2016. It will then travel around the world.
