9 News is reporting paramedics were called to Molly’s home at 6:40pm tonight. He was unconscious when the ambulance arrived.

Molly has been taken to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne.

Molly is a longtime friend of us at Noise11 and we wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.

Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum is the benchmark for music journalists in Australia. Via his ability to recognise a hit and through his television show Countdown Molly put Abba, Blondie and Madonna on the world map.

After Abba’s first international success in Australia, the first edition of the Rolling Stone music encyclopaedia listed Abba as “an Australian act”.

Molly, it is time to “do yourself a favour”. Get well Molly from your mates at Noise11.com.
