New Zealand’s Westfest Feels The Domino Affect Of Soundwave

New Zealand music festival Westfest is unable to proceed due to being dominated by the collapse of Soundwave.

Although Westfest was completely independent of Soundwave, the New Zealand music festival was booking Soundwave bands, as if a normal procedure with multiple events to amortize travel costs.

Now that Soundwave is no longer proceeding, nearly all of the international acts heading to Australia have cancelled their trips. It is not cost efficient for one New Zealand festival to bring out acts without sharing those travel costs with another event.

A statement from Westfest updates the situation:

Due to a pending discussion with a contracted artist Westfest is unable to confirm any decision made about the festivals continuation in 2016.

However – as their is only one band left standing; Westfest is automatically processing 100% refunds for all ticket holders.

Updates to follow. We thank you for your patience and appreciate your need for answers. For now no more tickets are going to be available as the future for Westfest 2016 is unknown.

For those with travel plans these bands are playing at Ding Dong lounge on January 30 regardless of Westfests fate.
