Shannon Bourne To Play Jimi Hendrix Band Of Gypsys Live

Melbourne’s own Hendrix reincarnate Shannon Bourne will perform the Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsies album live in December.

Bourne, who has played lead guitar of the last three Russell Morris albums including the new ‘Red Dirt Red Heart’ album will cover the Hendrix classic from start to finish at The Flying Saucer Club in Melbourne on December 13.

‘Band of Gypsys’ was the first live Hendrix album and the first Hendrix album outside The Jimi Hendrix Experience. The original album was Hendrix on guitar with Bill Cox on bass and Buddy Miles on drums. Hendrix recorded the album at Fillmore East in New Your City on January 1, 1970. The album was released in March 25, 1970. On September 18 that same year, Hendrix was dead at age 27.

Shannon Bourne covered Hendrix’s ‘Are You Experienced’ for the Pure Pop Records Summer of Classic Albums in 2012.
