St Kilda Festival Is After New Local Talent For Live N Local Program

St Kilda Festival is after up and coming local talent to showcase at Australia’s largest free music festival.

Live N Local is an Artist Development Program through the St Kilda Festival and supported by the St Kilda Council.

The program is designed for emerging artists to learn from the Melbourne music industry throught-leaders including Tim Dalton who has worked with the likes of Beastie Boys, Faith No More and Run-DMC, Jonathon Williamson from Sony Australia and renowned musicians Dan Kelly, Ainslie Wills, Tommy Spender, Jess Ribeiro, Sui Zhen and more.

Mayor Bernadene Voss said she is thrilled that the City of Port Phillip can host this vital development program and support local Australian talent.

“Our local community is built on a solid reputation of culture and arts. The City of Port Phillip continues to nurture, develop and support these local artists through this crucial Artist Development Program. We are fortunate to have a group of wonderfully experienced leaders from the music industry as part of our team to guide local musicians in this unprecedented program.”

Protecting and Respecting Your Music – Basics For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Musicians

Presented by Arts Law, this workshop explores the legal rights of musicians including copyright, moral rights and performers’ rights, as well as Indigenous Culture and Intellectual Property.

Legendary St Kilda recording studio Hothouse Audio is opening their doors for two very special tours. Attendees will be privy to the behind the scenes goings on of a busy, professional recording studio, gaining knowledge about the work that goes into producing high quality music.

Tim Dalton, an internationally recognised producer and engineer will take guests behind the mixing
techniques used in turning a recording into a professional and commercial work of art.

Music Management: Navigating The Right Path

This workshop is for the self-managed musician or budding managers. Participants will learn from experienced Australian managers about how they got started and their tips and ideas for building a successful business.

Artist & Repertoire (A&R) workshop

This workshop will examine how to create and implement an effective plan for developing artist’s material and their careers within the ever-changing music industry.

An open networking event to allow artists to extend their networks and enjoy a drink with the new found
knowledge from the program.
