Victoria Beckham Is Working For AIDS Charity

Victoria Beckham has shown her support for the fight against AIDS by designing some limited-edition items to raise money for the cause.

The former Spice Girl is an UNAIDS (The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS) Global Goodwill Ambassador, and as part of that she has created a T-shirt, key ring and ribbon in time for World AIDS day on 1 December (15). The items include a heart and eyes pattern, with Victoria more than happy to be involved with the project as she is so determined to help with the fight against the disease.

“The world has committed to end the AIDS epidemic as part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and I truly believe this is a real possibility,” she said, according to WWD.

“We have come such a long way in the fight against AIDS. Huge global efforts have created proven results, and more and more people are accessing treatment and prevention services. But we are not there yet. There are still people being left behind due to gender inequalities, stigma and discrimination and lack of resources. I am proud to take a stand, speaking up for change and pushing on towards our common goal of ending AIDS.”

The items range in price from £1 ($1.50) to £165 ($248) and are available from Victoria’s UK store and website, with all the money from all sales donated to UNAIDS.

UNAIDS advocates global action on HIV and AIDS in terms of preventing it spreading, providing the best treatment possible to those who have the virus and helping communities affected by the epidemic.

As part of her role, Victoria has been helping to raise awareness of the virus, especially among women and girls. She has been to Ethiopia on a field trip as part of the position, where she met with people who are affected by it.
