Natalie Imbruglia has released a self-made video for Beautiful Love, the final track on her forthcoming seventh studio album Algorithm, due September 4 on her own Landgirl Records.

Natalie Imbruglia has turned the spotlight on Beautiful Love, the closing song from her new album Algorithm, with a video made entirely on an iPhone and created with a small team of friends. The clip was filmed and edited by Amy Lee, with Imbruglia handling the concept, direction, styling, make-up and performance, offering an intentionally personal visual counterpart to an album that was independently financed and co-produced by Imbruglia.
The Beautiful Love video also contains a piece of Imbruglia’s personal history. The Mercedes featured in the clip is the first car she bought brand new, in 1998, around the period when her debut album Left Of The Middle established her as an international recording artist. More than 25 years later, she says she remains too attached to the car to part with it.
Imbruglia has described the production in typically informal terms, revealing that the entire video was filmed on her iPhone. Amy Lee handled filming and editing, while Charlie Mayfield provided audio and assistance on the day. The women appearing in the video were people Imbruglia and her team met in the village during filming.
The low-fi production approach contrasts with the considerable collaborative history behind Algorithm. Imbruglia independently financed the recording and co-wrote every song, working with collaborators who could also contribute to production. Among them are MyRiot, Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, Ash Soan, Fraser T. Smith, Tobie Tripp, Mark Crew, David Sneddon, Anu Pillai, Dan Priddy and Louis Rogove.
Beautiful Love was co-written by Imbruglia with Gary Lightbody and Fraser T. Smith. Production credits also involve MyRiot and Louis Rogove, placing the song within the album’s broader network of pop, electronic, dance and disco influences.
Algorithm is Imbruglia’s first studio album since 2021’s Firebird. The record was created during a period she has described as the most challenging time she had experienced with her mental health, while the resulting music takes an upbeat approach to subjects that include emotional instability, relationships, social media, perimenopause and personal anxiety.
That tension between subject matter and musical mood is central to the album. On Upside Down, Imbruglia wrote about struggling to control her emotions and reaching a point where willpower alone was insufficient. She said the experience taught her the importance of tools and support rather than simply trying to force her way through difficult circumstances.
The album’s title track moves into electronic pop, with Imbruglia using social media recommendation systems and endless scrolling as a starting point for its lyrics. Other songs take similarly personal subjects and place them within accessible pop structures. Jesus On Mars incorporates humour around her obsessive-compulsive tendencies, while Who Dimmed The Lights addresses her experience of perimenopause. Just Drive examines the tendency to conceal personal pain during a breakup.
Algorithm began its release campaign with Upside Down on April 29, followed by the title track on June 17 and Just Drive on July 24. The album will be released on September 4 through Imbruglia’s Landgirl Records.
The album continues Imbruglia’s recording career beyond the era defined by Torn and Left Of The Middle, while maintaining her connection to contemporary pop production. Her decision to finance Algorithm herself also allowed her greater control over the recording process, with Imbruglia describing the sessions as the most enjoyable she has experienced while making a record.
Imbruglia will continue the Algorithm cycle with international live appearances, including festival performances and shows in Europe and Mexico. She is also scheduled to join Bryan Adams for his Australian and New Zealand arena tour in February and March 2027, including a Melbourne performance at Rod Laver Arena.
For now, Beautiful Love provides the latest visual statement from Algorithm, but it does so without the scale normally associated with a major pop release. An iPhone, a small crew, a group of people encountered during filming and a car from the beginning of Imbruglia’s recording career are the ingredients behind the new clip.
