Otis Redding Debut Reisssued For Record Store Day

On September 9 Otis Redding would have turned 81. On the weekend of 8 and 9 September, the City of Macon, Georgia will celebrate the legacy of the legendary soul singer.

And just when you thought 2020 couldn’t throw up any more surprises Bob Dylan has become a complete sell-out. Dylan has sold the publishing rights to his songwriting catalogue in a deal said to be worth around $300 million to Universal Music.

President Barack Obama has unveiled his 2020 playlist with classics from Dylan, Springsteen and Fleetwood Mac, Soul from Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder and contemporary sounds of Billie Eilish, Mac Miller and Frank Ocean.

Next year will be the 50th anniversary of Otis Redding topping the charts with his signature song, "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay."

Fans of Otis Redding are about to get a couple of major releases.

Ben Cauley, a founding member of Stax group The Bar-Keys, has died in Memphis at the age of 67.

Otis Redding's short but illustrious career included some of the most important singles to come out of R&B during the 60s. All of those singles have been collected on The Complete Stax/Vold Singles, out July 23 on Shout! Factory.
