Ozzy Osbourne’s final live performance and Black Sabbath’s last appearance with their original lineup will screen worldwide from October 28.

Ozzy Osbourne’s final live performance and the last concert by Black Sabbath’s original lineup will be released in cinemas worldwide from October 28, with OZZY & BLACK SABBATH: BACK TO THE BEGINNING documenting the July 5, 2025 concert at Birmingham’s Villa Park.
The concert took place just 17 days before Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, making the film a record of his final appearance on stage. It also captured the first live performance together by Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward since 2005.
Trafalgar Releasing and Mercury Studios will present the concert film as a limited theatrical event. Tickets go on sale on September 24 at the designated international times, with the film screening in cinemas across multiple territories from October 28.
The Villa Park event was conceived as a farewell to Osbourne and a final celebration of Black Sabbath in Birmingham, the city where the band was formed in 1968. The original four members grew up close to one another and to Villa Park, making the stadium setting a significant location for the band’s final performance together.
The concert brought together artists from several generations of heavy music. The bill included Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Gojira, Anthrax, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Mastodon and Rival Sons, with additional performances and all-star collaborations.
Ozzy performed a five-song solo set before joining Iommi, Butler and Ward for Black Sabbath’s closing four songs, ending with “War Pigs”, “N.I.B.”, “Iron Man” and “Paranoid”.
Sharon Osbourne, who oversaw the event, said the motivation was straightforward: “He wanted to say goodbye and thank you.”
Tony Iommi described the concert as closure for the band, while Geezer Butler recalled the response from the audience as “a wave of love”. Bill Ward said he felt completely at home performing in Birmingham again.
Tom Morello, who served as musical director, said the event had no precedent in rock history, pointing to the significance of Black Sabbath performing their final show in the city where the band originated.
The concert itself ran for 10 hours, from 1pm until the 11pm local curfew, and featured 14 supporting acts, two all-star groups and a mid-show drum performance involving Travis Barker, Danny Carey and Chad Smith.
The original event was also streamed globally as a pay-per-view production and reportedly reached a peak of 5.8 million concurrent streams. The 45,000 available tickets sold out in 16 minutes, with international fans accounting for about 20 percent of purchases.
The concert was staged as a benefit event, with proceeds directed to Acorns Children’s Hospice, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Cure Parkinson’s. The event raised £140 million, according to the supplied background material.
For Black Sabbath, the concert represented the final chapter of a career that began in Aston, Birmingham, in 1968. Osbourne left the group in 1979 and subsequently established a major solo career, while the original lineup reunited periodically over the following decades. Their previous performance together had been at Ozzfest in 2005. Black Sabbath subsequently undertook The End Tour in 2016 and 2017, although Bill Ward was not part of that final touring lineup.
The concert was delayed from an originally intended 2024 presentation following health setbacks experienced by Osbourne. The four original members were made Freemen of the City of Birmingham in the week leading into the concert, further connecting the event to their hometown history.
OZZY & BLACK SABBATH: BACK TO THE BEGINNING has been directed for cinema by Ben Wainwright-Pearce, with the live concert directed by Tim van Someren. Jim Parsons, Jamie Silk and Dan Seliger produced the film.
Mercury Studios says the cinema presentation has been specifically designed for the big screen and will be presented in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound. The film combines the concert footage with behind-the-scenes material and reflections from participating artists.
The theatrical release gives the July 2025 performance a new format following its original live presentation and worldwide stream. It also provides audiences with a permanent filmed record of the final performance by both Ozzy Osbourne as a solo artist and Black Sabbath with its original four members.
