Singer and actor Rick Springfield is really going to the devil.

Rick will play Lucifer on the first few episodes of the CW’s Supernatural according to an announcement at the Comic-Con panel for the show.

Executive producer Andrew Dabb said they wanted a real rock star for the part of a down-on-his-luck artist who becomes a vessel for the devil. Dabb said of Springfield “If you’ve seen Ricki and The Flash or True Detective recently, he’s really great.”

It hasn’t been said how many episodes Satan will be taking residence.

Acting is nothing new for Springfield. He currently shows 43 credits on IMDB going back to the 1973 kids show Mission: Magic! through guest appearances on TV’s Six Million Dollar Man, Rockford Files, Battlestar Galactica, Californication and True Detective, full time parts in General Hospital, and films such as Hard to Hold and Ricki and the Flash.
