Rita Ora Is Working With New Artists

Singer Rita Ora sought out “young and hungry” artists for her new album.

The 24-year-old British star hasn’t had a record out since her 2012 debut Ora. Now she’s revealed her new music is out in November, marking her first international release.

Working with the likes of Chris Brown and Major Lazer, Rita poured her heart and soul into this offering.

“It will be available in the States and it’s exciting because I think, right now, I think that’s what music is about, mixed cultures, and that’s what this album is about,” she told billboard.com.

“I recorded it in London and it’s very much based from where I grew up, how I grew up. It’s the most honest album I’ve ever put out. There’s live instrumentation and melodically, I’ve worked with some incredible writers, who I really appreciate. We’re all young and we’re all hungry.”

While some, like Chris, are huge names in their own right, the as-yet-untitled album also features some newcomers. Rita is particularly proud of working with Julia Michaels, a musician she also calls a friend.

It might seem three years is a long time to wait for a second record, but Rita assures this was how it was meant to be.

“People have always been curious: ‘Oh, when is Rita’s music coming out?’ And to finally have this moment, I’m very happy with it,” she explained.

“It was all about timing. If I was to release things two years ago, I wouldn’t have had this anticipation and I was musically figuring myself out.”

She adds that there were also “logistics” behind the scenes that were holding things back. But now she’s finally overcome all the hurdles and feels complete “freedom” to get her voice heard.
