Simon Cowell Congratulates Zayn Malik On Record Deal

Simon Cowell has congratulated Zayn Malik on signing with RCA Records.

The 55-year-old music mogul previously managed the singer under his Syco label when he was part of One Direction. But after the 22-year-old left the mega-group earlier this year, it was rumoured that he would not remain on the books as a solo artist. After Zayn confirmed on Wednesday that he had signed a deal with RCA Records, Simon was quick to show that there were no hard feelings between the pair.

‘We have been working on this for a while and I am pleased to say congratulations to @Zaynmalik on signing with @RCARecords,” he wrote on Twitter. “I believe they are the perfect label for @ZaynMalik’s solo career and I am sure whatever they release together will be special. (sic)”

Both RCA and Syco have links to Sony Music Entertainment, but it’s believed Simon couldn’t devote the time required to Zayn’s solo career and still look after his former band mates.

The singer couldn’t be more thrilled by his new deal, posting a photo of him signing the contracts to his Twitter account earlier in the day.

‘I guess I never explained why I left , it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA !!(sic)’ he wrote alongside the black and white image of him smiling while hovering over his contract with a pen in his hand.

The new deal follows reports that Zayn had teamed up with record producer Malay, who has worked on some of Alicia Keys’ biggest hits.
