Tash Sultana has added second shows in Auckland, Wellington and Perth as the 2027 tour expands alongside new music from a forthcoming album.

Tash Sultana has added three more dates to their 2027 Australian and New Zealand tour, with second shows now confirmed in Auckland, Wellington and Perth after the originally announced performances sold out. The new dates come as Sultana begins a new phase of their career with new music, a new live show and a forthcoming album through BMG.

The additional shows are Thursday April 22 at Auckland’s Powerstation, Monday April 26 at Wellington’s Meow Nui and Wednesday May 12 at Perth’s Astor Theatre.

The response has already made Auckland and Wellington two-show engagements, while the Perth run has expanded to two nights. The original Auckland show on April 23, Wellington show on April 25 and Perth show on May 13 are all sold out.

Tickets for the three new performances go on sale at 10am local time today through Frontier Touring.

The tour will be Sultana’s first Australasian run under a new chapter that includes newly appointed global management and agency partners and a global priority recording deal with BMG. The arrangement is accompanying a sequence of new singles leading towards a new album.

The latest release is Something In The Water, a track that returns to the combination of guitar, groove, vocals and extended instrumental playing that has become central to Sultana’s music.

The song allows the arrangement to build gradually before giving the instrumental performance more space in its latter section. Sultana produced and engineered the recording, continuing the hands-on approach that has defined much of their career.

Sultana’s career began on the streets of Melbourne, where busking provided an early platform for a solo performance style that could sound considerably larger than one performer. Their use of looping technology allowed guitar, percussion, bass-like parts and vocals to be layered into increasingly complex live arrangements.

That approach eventually took Sultana from Melbourne’s streets to international festivals and major venues. They have built a global audience with billions of streams and more than one million tickets sold worldwide, while maintaining a performance model centred on Sultana rather than a conventional full-band setup.

The live show has also become a showcase for Sultana’s unusually broad instrumental ability. They are described as playing more than 20 instruments and possessing a five-octave vocal range, while their self-taught looping technique remains one of the most recognisable elements of their performances.

The 2027 tour is therefore positioned as more than a return to Australia and New Zealand. Sultana has described the next phase of the project through new recordings and an all-new live show, giving the upcoming dates a connection to music that has not yet been fully revealed.

Something In The Water provides the first indication of that direction. Rather than abandoning the stripped-back musical identity that established Sultana internationally, the track develops it through a patient groove and a performance that increasingly foregrounds the playing.

The Australasian tour begins in New Zealand in April before moving to Australia in May. Alongside the three newly added performances, Sultana will play Thirroul, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

For Perth fans, the extra Astor Theatre show is the latest addition to a run that has already sold out its first night. In Auckland and Wellington, the same pattern has produced additional opportunities to see Sultana before the tour moves across the Tasman.

With new music already being released and an album in the works, the 2027 dates will give Australian and New Zealand audiences an early opportunity to hear how Sultana’s next era translates to the stage.
