A “family situation” has caused Scottish punk legends The Exploited to cancel their Australian tour.

On the verge of their tour of Australia, a “family situation” of bass player Irish Rob has sent him home to the Emerald Isle.

Vocalist Wattie Buchan said in a statement: “I’m really sorry to have to say this but I’m afraid we’ll have to cancel. Apart from feeling sorry for Rob, we’re all totally gutted as we were really looking forward to this, but it is out of our control. I don’t really know what else to say except for I’m sorry to have to be saying this in every aspect.”

“We’d just like to apologise to the promoter and everyone involved in these gigs and especially all of the people who were coming to see us. There’s no one more disappointed than us!!!  So hopefully in the future we can get a chance to come back and play to the people of Australia and New Zealand. ”

They plan to reschedule the dates for the second half of this year but since the timing is unsure, ticketholders are asked to get a refund at the point of purchase. Any enquiries can be directed to Soundworks Touring here: [email protected].

The Corner Hotel date this Saturday April 28 will still feature a punk rock extravaganza, starring Glen & The Peanutbutter Men, Wolfpack, Perth’s Chainsaw Hookers, street-punks The Worst and Oi! act Last Call for ten bucks.
