Australian music legend Stevie Wright died 12 months ago today.

Stevie Wright fronted Australia’s first internationally successful rock band The Easybeats.

The 60s Sydney band had a short time together but influenced artists worldwide including David Bowie and Rod Stewart who have recorded their songs.

The songs of The Easybeats are iconic. ‘She’s So Fine’, ‘Wedding Ring’, Women’, ‘Come and See Her’, ‘I’ll Make You Happy’, ‘Sorry’ and ‘Good Times’ are all Aussie rock classics but as a solo artist Stevie Wright have us the epic 11 minute ‘Evie Parts 1, 2 & 3’.

Stevie Wright battled drugs from the mid-70s. It took more than two decades for him to overcome his demons but by that stage he was destitute.

The Australian Music Industry welcomed Stevie back. He took part in 2002’s ‘Long Way To The Top’ concerts and in 2005 was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.

Stevie Wright died at 6pm December 27, 2015 at Moruya on the New South Wales south coast.
