Comedian, filmmaker and author Tony Martin has a gig at MEMO between Christmas and New Year.

Martin will be joined by Nazeem Hussain and Sarah Bennetto for the South of the Border #2 showcase to stare down their south of the Yarra heritage.

Tony Martin has been a long-time St Kilda fixture although he is originally a New Zealander. Nazeem Hussain is kinda St Kilda. He is from Elsternwick which makes him south of the Yarra and slightly south of St Kilda. Sarah Bennetto is originally from the area but now based in London. She will MC the evening.

South of the Border #2 is on just ahead of the Summer Sounds of St Kilda series of local artists throughout January at MEMO Music Hall. Summer Sounds of St Kilda will feature Hugo Race, Alma Zygier, Jack Howard and Debra Byrne’s new band Cornerstone.

Live Music Ticket Prices Reshape Global Concert Industry As Australia Faces ‘FOMO Economy’

by Paul Cashmere The cost of seeing live music has transformed dramatically over the past four decades, with arena and stadium concert ticket prices now outpacing inflation at a rate few other entertainment sectors can match. In the mid-1980s, a major concert ticket typically cost between $12 and $15. In 2026, premium tickets for the world's biggest tours regularly exceed $500, while VIP packages can stretch beyond $1,000. The shift has fundamentally changed not only the economics of touring, but also the behaviour of audiences in Australia, North America and Europe.
