The Hara sit down with Paul Cashmere for an in-depth Noise11 interview ahead of the release of their 2026 album The Fallout. Josh Taylor, Zack Breen and Jack Kennedy discuss nine years of relentless touring, evolving from cover band beginnings into one of the most powerful modern rock trios on the circuit.
In this conversation, the band open up about the making of The Fallout, a 12-song album built on vulnerability, mental health awareness and lived experience. They explain how constant touring shaped the songs, why tracks like Friends, Kings and Easier To Die have become central to their identity, and how melodic hooks and heavy riffs can coexist with deeply personal themes.
The interview also traces The Hara’s early days in 2017, when Maroon 5, Harry Styles and Panic! At The Disco covers filled their setlists, and contrasts that era with the heavier, more confident band they’ve become post-lockdown. SXSW 2023 emerges as a pivotal moment, where a chaotic first show gave way to a breakthrough second performance that opened the door to major touring opportunities.
The band also talk candidly about songwriting, collaboration with long-time producer Brad, and the creative freedom that comes from being a three piece. They reveal plans to perform The Fallout in full on tour, tease unreleased tracks, and explain why orchestral versions of their music remain a long-term ambition.
Finally, The Hara make it clear that Australia is firmly on their radar. An Australian tour remains a dream, but one they are determined to make a reality.
