The debut album for Billie Eilish lands at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart, while she also debuts at No.1 on the singles chart with “Bad Guy”, landing six Top 10 berths this week and she has sixteen songs within the Top 100, how’s that for a 17-year-old!!
“Bad Guy” for Billie Eilish becomes the 1085th No.1 song in Australia (1940 to 2019), the 520th for ARIA (1983 to 2019), the 121st to debut at No.1 (the last was ‘7 Rings’ for Ariana Grande on the 28th of January), and the 35th No.1 for the record label Interscope (the last was a returning “Shallow” in early March for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper).
This new No.1 song becomes only the second with the word ‘Bad’ in its title to appear at the top here, the other being Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” featuring Kendrick Lamar (3 weeks from 1st of June, 2015), while for the word ‘Guy’ this is the fifth, the last one being last century when Offspring scored their only chart topper here with “Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)” (6 weeks from 7th of Dec, 1998). There’s also been “Jealous Guy” by Roxy Music (4 weeks from 11th of May, 1981), “My Guy” for Mary Wells (2 weeks from 13th of June, 1964) and the Herb Alpert song “This Guy’s in Love with You” (2 weeks from 6th of July, 1968).
Billie Eilish now becomes the 99th American Solo Female artist to hit No.1 in Australia, while Billie also becomes the 414th chart-topping American artist, and the song “Bad Guy” is the 698th No.1 song sung by an American performer (solo, duo or group). Plus Billie also continues the trend of ONLY American artists hitting No.1 here this year, with all five of this years top sellers being by American acts, and as Billie is at the top of both the singles and albums chart she also becomes 131st act to achieve this feat and the second for 2019 as Ariana Grande did it for two weeks from mid-February, PLUS Billie is now the youngest person to achieve this feat of topping both charts, as at the age of 17 she surpasses the 21.5 years old Adele was when she did it back in June of 2011.
Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” also debuted at the top in New Zealand and landed at No.2 in both England and Ireland, while she also places five further songs within the Top 10 this week, her albums first four releases all rise back up, with three of them landing within the Top 10, the first is “Bury a Friend” which jumps up ten places to its former peak of No.3 for a sixth week within the ten, then the former No.12 song “Wish You Were Gay” jumps up sixteen spots to score a new peak of No.5, plus her former No.10 song “When the Party’s Over” rebounds a massive thirty-three places to land at a new peak of No.7. Ms. Eilish also debuts within the Top 10 with two new songs too, coming in at No.8 is “All the Good Girls Go to Hell”, followed two places lower at No.10 with her sixth and final Top 10 entry for this week “Xanny”, which beats the February set record of three within the ten by Ariana Grande and also beats the previous record for a female artists of four, set by Karise Eden set in late June of 2012.
Four songs remain from last weeks Top 10 with the most recent No.1 for The Jonas Brothers down one place to No.2 after three weeks at the top, the song finally climbing to No.1 on the digital charts this week, while last weeks re-climber to No.2 and “Wow” by Post Malone is down two to No.4 followed by his other current Top 10 entry “Sunflower” with Swae Lee, which falls three spots to No.6 and logs a 23rd week within the Top 10 (equal third longest Top 10 run in Australian Chart History) alongside “Closer” for The Chainsmokers and Halsey (2016-17) and most recently “Shotgun” for George Ezra (2018-19). After climbing to his new peak of No.5 last week the Billie Eilish influx pushes down Dominic Fike four places to land at No.9 with his first entry “3 Nights”.
UP:
* The former No.47 song for Billie Eilish and “You Should See Me in a Crown” returns to the chart at a far higher peak of No.16 this week, while her older entries to rise include “Ocean Eyes” (88 to 78) and “Bellyache” (84 to 83).
* Last weeks debut at No.47 for the Lil’ Nas X track “Old Town Road (I Got Horses in the Back)” jumps a massive steeple of twenty-nine spots to land within the Top 20 at a new peak of No.18.
* The Marshmello and CHVRCHES track “Here With Me” is only up one spot this week to No.21.
* The sixth week running UK and Irish No.1 song for Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi called “Someone You Loved” bullets twenty spots to land at a new peak of No.26 here.
* Birds of Tokyo score their eighth Top 50 single this week as their latest single “Good Lord” climbs up eight places to a new chart height of No.48.
* Amy Shark holds at her peak of No.70 for a second week with “Mess Her Up”.
* Another of last weeks debuts to leap up this week is the Tones and I track “Johnny Run Away” which rises twenty-one spots to land at a new peak of No.73.
DOWN:
* A massive six songs leave the Top 10 this week starting with new weeks potential No.1 album holder in Khalid who issued his second set “Free Spirit” on Friday, while his Top 10 fall-out for this week might just rise next week in “Talk” (HP-7×2, WI10-6wks) falling four spots to No.11 and the song is only new certification within the Top 100 this week, now â–²Platinum in sales. Current U.S. and Canadian No.1 song for an eighth week is “7 Rings” (HP-1×5, WI10-10wks) for Ariana Grande which here falls nine spots to No.13, followed by the Sam Smith and Normani track “Dancing with a Stranger” (HP-6×2, WI10-10wks) down eight to No.14, then another former No.1 in “Shallow” (HP-1×5, WI10-22wks) for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper which drops seven spots to No.15 (and is now the equal fourth longest running Top 10 ever in Australia), a second Ariana drop in “Break Up With Your Boyfriend, I’m Bored” (HP-2×2, WI10-7wks) falling eight places to No.17 and finally last weeks Top 10 entry for Dean Lewis and “7 Minutes” (HP-10, WI10-1) which plummets fifteen places to land at No.25.
* Lauv and Troye Sivan fall back down seven spots to No.19 with “I’m So Tired”, while Troye’s teaming with Charli XCX and “1999” drops thirteen places to No.90.
* Pink loses the No.1 digital spot this week with her track “Walk Me Home” (its at #2), and nationally the song falls down eleven spots to No.22, plus she does debut with a new track this week.
* The Chainsmokers and 5 Seconds of Summer drop down nine spots to No.24 with “Who Do You Love”, while the 5SOS No.1 song of 2018 in “Youngblood” falls six spots to No.47 and The Chainsmokers’ “This Feeling” falls nine places to land at No.99.
* Ava Max sees both of her songs move downwards this week, with “Sweet But Psycho” falling thirteen spots to No.27 and her newer song “So Am I” is down four places to No.33.
* Halsey tumbles twelve spots to No.28 with her track “Without Me”, while she also falls with her guest appearances on “Eastside” for Benny Blanco (20 to 31) and the Yungblud track “11 Minutes” (32 to 51).
* As I mentioned earlier the new Khalid album was just issued, and another of his new albums’ songs which should rebound next week is “My Bad” which this week drops down twelve spots to No.30, plus the new set also features other potential rebounders in “Better” (31 to 40) and “Saturday Nights” (54 to 65).
* With one Marshmello track rising his older entry with Bastille and “Happier” drops down nine spots to No.32.
* Dean Lewis not only loses a Top 10 berth this week with “7 Minutes”, but his rises from last week are short lived as his former No.1 “Be Alright” is back down seventeen spots to No.34 and his entry from last week “Stay Awake” slips down eighteen places to No.44.
* Kian drops down twelve places to No.36 with “Waiting”.
* After scoring a new peak of No.19 last week the Calvin Harris and Rag’N’Bone Man track “Giant” plummets this week eighteen spots to land down at No.37, while Calvin’s track with Sam Smith “Promises” drops down sixteen places to No.75.
* There’s a fourteen place fall to No.39 for the Travis Scott and Drake track “Sicko Mode”, while Mr. Scotts appearance on the Kodak Black song “Zeze” drops fifteen spots to No.96 and the Drake guesting on Meek Mill’s “Going Bad” descends seventeen rungs to No.59.
* J. Cole’s “Middle Child” suffers an upset by falling down thirteen spots to No.41.
* George Ezra falls ten places to No.45 with his former No.1 “Shotgun” and his most recent entry “Hold My Girl” is down five to No.61.
* Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” drops down sixteen spots to No.46.
* Imagine Dragons’ “Bad Liar” falls eleven places to No.49.
* Loud Luxury and “Body” descend seventeen spots this week to land at No.50.
* A Boogie wit da Hoodie sees both of his entries fall this week in “Swervin” (44 to 52) and “Look Back at it” (76 to 88).

* (DJ) Mustard and Migos fall down twelve spots to No.63 with “Pure Water”.
* Ed Sheeran is down with “Perfect” (58 to 64, 109th week) and the ‘Longest Charted Single’ in “Shape of You” (80 to 86 in its 117th week).
* Benny Blanco is down nineteen spots to No.71 with “I Can’t Get Enough”.
* Ellie Goulding with “Close to Me” falls a massive twenty-four spots to No.77.
* There’s a fourteen place slide to No.79 for the Rita Ora song “Let You Love Me”.
* Juice WRLD has three dropping songs into the 80-100 section this week, first is “Robbery” (64 to 81) followed by “Fast” (62 to 87) and his oldest “Lucid Dreams” (87 to 97 at 45 weeks).
* Anne-Marie is in the country touring at the moment, yet her entry “2002” is down twelve spots to No.85.
* G Flip leapt to No.67 last week with “Drink too Much”, which this week falls back down twenty-five spots to No.92.
* Dynoro falls twenty-three spots to No.94 with her former Top 10 entry “In My Mind”.
* After a small fall last week it’s a bigger sixteen place slump this week for “Tequila” by Dan + Shay to No.95.
* A new acoustic version of “Peer Pressure” for James Bay and Julia Michaels was issued on Friday, but for this week the original is down fifteen places to No.98.
* Last weeks No.63 debut for Tame Impala and “Patience” is the highest dropout for this week.

* #57 – Murder on My Mind by YNW Melly is the debut solo single for the 19 year old from Gifford in Florida, born Jamell Maurice Demons, who is currently in prison for suspected first-degree murder charges from February of this year. This song has reached the Top 10 so far in Canada and Belgium, the Top 20 in North America, New Zealand and England and has also charted in Ireland, Norway (both Top 30), Sweden (Top 40) and Netherlands (Top 70).
* #69 – Hustle by Pink is the second song to be issued from the upcoming eighth studio album for Pink called “Hurts 2B Human” which is due at the end of April, and follows on from the recent No.1 selling digital track and former No.11 nationally song “Walk Me Home” (TW-22), while overall this becomes her 46th Top 100 entry since she first charted here in 2000 (43 solo, 3 as guest vocalist) .
* #72 – Friends by Flume feat. Reo Cragun is now the fifteenth Top 100 entry (13 singles and two EP’s) for local EDM artist born Harley Streten (who was an answer on ‘Pointless’ this past week), with this new track coming from a forthcoming third studio album (and not the mixtape he charted with last week) and this is also his first chart entry since 2017’s “Hyperreal” (HP-60).
* #89 – Monopoly by Ariana Grande feat. Victoria Monet is a new song by Ariana and NOT featured on her current Top 10 album “thank u, next” (which is only eight weeks old) and this song was co-written by Monet (who also co-wrote “7 Rings” too), plus in the song she mentions the line “Even though we gave up that 90%”, referencing the fact that she had to give up 90% of the royalties for ‘7 Rings’ to Rogers & Hammerstein due to her interpolating the melody of “My Favourite Things” from ‘The Sound of Music.
* #93 – Self by Khalid is taken from the just issued second album for Khalid called “Free Spirit” (it came out on Friday the 5th of April) and is now the fifth song to chart from the album (of 17 tracks) after its other current chart entries in “Talk” (HP-7, TW-11), “My Bad” (HP-18, TW-30), “Better” (HP-6, TW-40) and as a bonus track on the album is “Saturday Nights” (HP-27, TW-65) which was originally on his EP “Suncity” (TW-90).
