Brian Ritchie, the former Violent Femmes bass player, now Aussie resident living in Tasmania, is the curator of Mona Foma. He told the Hobart Mercury, “I think he’s the perfect artist for MOFO, because he crosses all these different fields of endeavour while always maintaining a freshness to his work,”

Byrne will perform for Mona Foma in Hobart on January 20, 2013.

Mona Foma started in Hobart in 2009. The first year featured Nick Vae and the Bad Seeds and The Saints. In 2010, Mona Foma welcomes John Cale and Grandmaster Flash. 2011 features Philip Glass and welcomed back Nick Cave in Grinderman. 2012 had PJ Harvey and Dresden Dolls.

Ritchie is currently in Slovenia performing with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
