Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) said he didn’t even know the name of the show he was on when the agreed to appear on the show from Brisbane to promote his current Australian tour with Public Image Limited. “I don’t know what it’s called. All I know is someone wanted to film us,” he told Fairfax Media upon arrival at Sydney Airport this afternoon.

The Project interview went pear shaped when Carrie Bickmore tried to ask a question interrupting his train of thought and Johnny took offence and called her out on it. “If someone is going to keep interrupting you and not letting you finish a sentence you are going to have to say something at some point whether it be male or female. To make a difference that is sexist on her part not mine,” he said.

Lydon rejected the accusation that he was anti-women. “My only enemies are the governments and institutions. Certainly not women. I’ve been married to one for 30 years. We love each other,” he said.

Remaining dates for Public Image Limited are:

April 10, Sydney
April 11, Melbourne, Palace Theatre
