Mike Garson and a band of Bowie alumni will perform in Australia in May.

The ‘A Bowie Celebration: The Bowie Alumni Tour’ band includes long-term Bowie musicians Gerry Leonard, Carmine Rojas, Mark Plati and drummer John Lee.

Vocals will be from Corey Glover of Living Colour and Joe Sumner (Sting’s son).

In a statement Garson said, ”In all the years I played and toured with David, I was asked to play with many dozens of Bowie tribute bands but turned each down because I was able to play with the real deal.

“Since David has passed, while it now takes a village of world-class vocalists to celebrate David’s songs with us on tour, the band that’s playing those songs with me are the actual players who played with David.

“That’s the main difference between us and other tribute bands out there and this is the only Bowie tour we’ll be touring with. In addition to the live music played by alumni members of David’s bands, A Bowie Celebration is proud to incorporate subtle string tracks to our performances to help recreate the tracks they honour – just as David did on his tours with me for many years.”
