Coldplay were playing ‘The Scientist’ when a lady in the audience took out a tambourine and started to bash along.

“I don’t mean to be rude,” Martin told the woman. “This is not a tambourine song”.

He added, “don’t take this to be some kind of anti-tambourine rally or rant against the tambourine. It’s one of my favourite instruments.”

Coldplay were performing for Mencap’s Little Noise Sessions.

The show continued without tambourine.
