Country Royalty Loretta Lynn Breaks Her Hip

Country music icon Loretta Lynn is recuperating from a broken hip that she suffered in a fall last week.

Lynn’s sister, Crystal Gayle, made the first statement about the accident in a note that said:

This is my birthday week!

My birthday wish is for everyone to send love and prayers to my sister, Loretta Lynn, who fell and broke her hip last week.

I was with Loretta yesterday. She is in good spirits and is doing as well as can be expected with this type of injury.

Thank you for your love, prayers and continued support!

Love you! Love you, Sis!

Crystal

Lynn’s people put out their own statement about two hours later:

American music icon, Loretta Lynn is recovering from a fractured hip after a fall while at home. She is doing well and thanks all her fans for their thoughts and prayers.

This is the second big health crisis for Lynn in the past year. Last May, she suffered a stroke which has kept her in recovery for most of the rest of the year. She did make a public appearance in October for the induction of Alan Jackson into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

The stroke caused Lynn to postpone the release of her 41st studio album, Wouldn’t Be Great, until she was well enough to tour in support.
