Dan Sultan has released ‘There’s A River’, the third preview from his forthcoming album Little Miracles, due on 23 October through Mushroom Music. Written initially in 2022 and completed during recording sessions with British songwriter and producer Guy Chambers in 2025, the song reflects Sultan’s relationship with family, home and Country.
‘There’s A River’ follows the previously released ‘Needing Love’ and ‘Forgiveness’, establishing a recurring emotional thread through Little Miracles. Sultan describes the new song as a personal account of finding security and belonging, with the river serving as both a physical setting and a metaphor for home.
“The writing of There’s A River began in 2022,” Sultan said. “It began with my baby son and me, as I played him the first verse while looking out on a beautiful river.”
The initial verse came quickly, but the song remained unfinished. Sultan subsequently took the idea into several writing sessions without finding the right direction. The breakthrough came when he brought it into the studio with Chambers in 2025.
“That moment brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face,” Sultan said. “It’s a song for my family, and a promise that I will always keep them safe and happy. It is a love song for them and for country. The river is our home.”
Chambers, whose songwriting and production credits include work with Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue and many other international artists, co-wrote and produced the track with Sultan. The recording was made at London’s Sleeper Sounds, with mastering completed at Abbey Road Studios.
The accompanying official video provides a visual component to the song’s themes of family and place. Sultan has also made Little Miracles available for pre-order on marble vinyl, while the yellow vinyl edition has already sold out.
Little Miracles will be Sultan’s next studio album following Dan Sultan, released in 2023. His catalogue has earned seven ARIA Awards, including recognition for Get Out While You Can, Blackbird, Nali & Friends and Dan Sultan.
His career has also included performances with the Melbourne, Darwin and Australian Symphony Orchestras, as well as support appearances for Bruce Springsteen, Midnight Oil and Vance Joy. Sultan has performed at venues and events internationally, including Central Park, Red Rocks, the Ryman Auditorium and the Paris Paralympics Athletes Village.
The album’s sequencing places ‘There’s A River’ at the opening, followed by ‘Peace Of Mind’, ‘Forgiveness’, ‘Can’t Be For Nothing’, ‘Needing Love’, ‘Find The Light’, ‘Sunshower’, ‘One Star At A Time’, ‘ATLAS’ and ‘Here For Love’.
With ‘There’s A River’, Sultan has positioned family and Country at the centre of Little Miracles. The album will be released on Friday 23 October via Mushroom Music.
