Dave Davies Would Love A Kinks Tour With His Brother Sir Ray Davies

Kinks founder, songwriter and lead singer Sir Ray Davies has announced another reunion for his iconic Brit band The Kinks, and his brother and co-founder Dave Davies in if there is a tour.

While the brothers have been collaborating on new music, a tour is yet to be discussed.

In a Facebook post today Dave clarified the story saying, “Me and Ray have spoken about the possibility of us working on a new album. Ray has a few songs he wants to finish. I have 3 or 4 songs I’ve written with Ray. We’ve been talking about it for some time now. We haven’t discussed shows or anything else at the moment”. ‬

Sir Ray has been in media mode this past week talking up his new album ‘Our Country: Americana Act II” and the obvious question ‘when are The Kinks getting back together’ keeps recurring.

Ray answered the question for the BBC “We’ve been talking about it because I’ve got all these songs that I wrote, then the band — not broke up, we parted company — and I think it’s kind of an appropriate time to do it.”

That has caused the media frenzy about a reunion.

A reunion for The Kinks would require both Ray and Dave to agree. While Ray has been all for a reunion, Dave had been the hesitant one but that appears to have changed.

At times Dave has been open to it but it is yet to happen. The studio reunion is a possibility and Dave tells Noise11 that he is open to a particpating in Kinks tour if it were to happen. “I would love to tour with my brother and he is aware of that,” Dave said in an email to Noise11.com.

In recent years Dave has managed some occasional US shows and has released two solo albums.

The Kinks last studio album was ‘Phobia’ in 1993. The line-up for that record was Ray Davies, Dave Davies, Jim Rodford and Bob Henrit.
