Dave Grohl Says Broken Leg Is A Blessing

Dave Grohl now views his broken leg as a “beautiful blessing in disguise”.

The Foo Fighters frontman hurt himself while the band were performing in Sweden last month, an injury that led to the cancellation of the group’s remaining shows in the UK and Europe, but the Foo Fighters were still able to play their 20th anniversary concert in Washington D.C. on July 4 in addition to a few other gigs, performances which have blown Dave’s mind.

“The shows we’ve been doing lately are our favourite shows that we’ve ever done,” Dave told Entertainment Weekly. “What seemed like a setback at the time has turned into this beautiful blessing in disguise, where this throne and these crutches and these audiences make us play longer and harder than we ever have. It’s this whole new energy in the show.”

Dave has designed a giant special chair so he can perform with the Foo Fighters while the cast remains on his broken leg.

Although the rocker has confessed sometimes he is ‘high as a f***ing kite on pain meds during recent gigs, Dave remains enthusiastic about the addition of the throne to the group’s stage show.

‘The idea of the throne is just f***ing ridiculous, especially for a band that has never relied on any kind of production at all,’ he noted. ‘We usually just put the amps on the stage, turn on the lights, and play. Now we’ve got this throne that shoots lights and smoke out of it and looks like a f***ing UFO with guitar necks stuck in it.’
