Foo Fighters have premiered a special performance of “Child Actor” through Vevo’s new Extended Play series, with the band set to return to Australia and New Zealand for nine stadium shows from November 2026 through January 2027.

Foo Fighters have released a filmed performance of “Child Actor”, the first video from Vevo’s new Extended Play original content series, giving the song from the band’s latest album Your Favorite Toy a visual treatment built around fame, self-worth and the pressures of the music industry.
Filmed at Foo Fighters’ 606 studio in Los Angeles, the performance forms the opening release in a series that will combine bespoke live performances with artist interviews and storytelling. Extended Play is scheduled to culminate in a short film bringing together the material created with participating artists.
“Child Actor” is presented as a deliberately intimate performance. The video moves between rapid edits and sustained shots of individual members of Foo Fighters, reflecting the tension between the constant activity surrounding a major touring act and the periods of waiting that sit behind it.
The performance builds towards the repeated line “turn the cameras off, turn the cameras off” before the screen fades to black. The presentation places the song’s themes directly within the environment in which a global rock band operates, using Foo Fighters’ own studio as the setting.
JP Evangelista, Vevo’s EVP of Content, Programming and Marketing, said the collaboration demonstrated the band’s commitment to the creative process and praised the musicianship involved in the performance.
Vevo says Extended Play has been developed through close collaboration between its production team and artists, with the locations selected to connect with the creative direction of each project. The series is designed around performances and conversations rather than conventional music video releases.
The Foo Fighters performance also comes at a significant point in the band’s international touring cycle. The group will return to Australia and New Zealand later this year for nine stadium concerts, beginning in Brisbane on November 5 and concluding in Perth on January 25, 2027.
Australia has been an important market for Foo Fighters since their first visit on the Summersault Festival in 1995. The band has subsequently toured the country 13 times, progressing from club performances to arenas and, eventually, stadium productions.
The group has sold more than 1.8 million albums in Australia and has recorded nine number one albums in the territory. Their relationship with Australian audiences has also produced distinctive moments in the Foo Fighters catalogue, including the live debut of “The Ballad Of The Beaconsfield Miners”, inspired by the 2006 Tasmanian mining disaster and later recorded for 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace.
The forthcoming Australian and New Zealand tour will include Brisbane, Townsville, Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne and Adelaide before moving to Christchurch, Auckland and Perth. The Christchurch concert at One New Zealand Stadium will be among the venue’s significant early events following its construction.
The current Foo Fighters touring lineup comprises Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee and drummer Ilan Rubin. The touring era follows the death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022, with Rubin taking over the drum position for the current cycle.
Sixteen Australian and New Zealand acts have also been selected to support Foo Fighters across the nine shows, including Full Flower Moon Band, Mini Skirt, Downgirl, The Belair Lip Bombs, TEENS, The Buoys, C.O.F.F.I.N, FRENZEE, Kurralta Park, Spooky Eyes, Dartz, Seek Help!, Dick Move, Ringlets, Southern River Band and Last Quokka.
For Foo Fighters, the Vevo release provides a new visual interpretation of “Child Actor” while extending the band’s catalogue into a format focused on performance and songwriting. The Australian and New Zealand stadium dates will then place that catalogue in front of local audiences across nine concerts.
