Danish rock veterans D-A-D will return to Australia and New Zealand in March 2027 for a five-date run built around the songs that have defined more than four decades of the band’s career.

D-A-D will return to Australia and New Zealand in March 2027 for The Very Best Of Tour, bringing a career-spanning set to Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. The current lineup of Jesper Binzer, Jacob Binzer, Stig Pedersen and Laust Sonne will perform songs from across the band’s catalogue, including “Sleeping My Day Away”, “Laugh ‘n’ a 1/2”, “Grow or Pay”, “Bad Craziness”, “Everything Glows” and “Girl Nation”.
The tour represents another chapter in D-A-D’s long association with international rock audiences. While the group has remained particularly prominent in Denmark, its 1989 album No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims gave the band a broader international profile, helped by the single “Sleeping My Day Away”.
The Australian and New Zealand dates will take place in March 2027, beginning at Auckland’s Tuning Fork on March 9 before moving through Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
The band’s history stretches back to Copenhagen in the early 1980s, when Jesper Binzer, Stig Pedersen and their original collaborators began performing under the name Disneyland After Dark. The name was later changed to D-A-D following legal pressure from The Walt Disney Company.
Jacob Binzer joined the group in 1984, establishing the four-piece configuration that would go on to record the band’s debut album, Call of the Wild, released in 1986. A second album, D.A.D. Draws a Circle, followed in 1987 before the group reached a larger international audience with No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims in 1989.
That album included “Sleeping My Day Away”, which became one of the band’s best-known songs and reached number 63 on the Australian singles chart. Further Australian chart appearances followed, with “Girl Nation” reaching number 52 in 1990 and “Bad Craziness” reaching number 86 in 1991.
D-A-D continued recording throughout the 1990s and 2000s, releasing albums including Riskin’ It All, Helpyourselfish, Simpatico, Everything Glows, Soft Dogs, Scare Yourself and Monster Philosophy. Their later catalogue includes A Prayer for the Loud, released in 2019, and Speed of Darkness, released in 2024.
The lineup has remained stable since 1999, when Laust Sonne replaced original drummer Peter Lundholm Jensen. Sonne joined Binzer, Binzer and Pedersen to form the quartet that continues to perform today.
Pedersen has become particularly associated with his unconventional approach to the bass guitar, frequently using two-string instruments and custom-shaped basses as part of D-A-D’s visual and musical identity. Jesper Binzer remains the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist, while Jacob Binzer handles lead guitar alongside backing vocals and other instruments.
D-A-D’s recent history has included both new recordings and retrospective projects. The 2024 compilation Forty Love: Greatest Hits reached number six in Denmark, while Speed of Darkness followed later that year. In April 2025, the live album Live from the Arena reached number one in Denmark, providing a contemporary document of the band’s stage repertoire.
The March 2027 shows therefore sit within an ongoing touring history that has included anniversary campaigns and extensive international runs. The group previously marked its 35th anniversary with a Greatest Hits tour in 2022 and followed it with a 40th Anniversary World Tour in 2025.
For the Australian dates, The Very Best Of Tour is expected to draw heavily from the established catalogue, placing the songs that introduced D-A-D to international audiences alongside later material and fan favourites.
