The enigmatic singer has been out of the spotlight since a heart attack in 2004 and has pretty much made it known that he is retired, but on Thursday he posted to his official Facebook page.

The occasion is a retrospective of Bowie’s career at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. David obviously has no problem with the show but he wants to make it clear that he wasn’t involved in the selection of items to be shown.

DAVID BOWIE AT THE VICTORIA AND ALBERT MUSEUM 2013

Contrary to recently published reports relating to the announcement by the V&A of an upcoming David Bowie Exhibition, I am not a co-curator and did not participate in any decisions relating to the exhibition.

The David Bowie Archive gave unprecedented access to the V&A and museum’s curators have made all curatorial and design choices.

A close friend of mine tells me that I am neither “devastated”, “heartbroken” nor “uncontrollably furious” by this news item.

Britain’s Mirror reports that there may be a disagreement with the curators of the show, saying that he is not comfortable with the items selected and displayed. A source told the paper “Quietly he isn’t comfortable with some of their decisions. He also wants to make it totally clear that this isn’t a vanity project. He does not like the implication that he has essentially created some sort of shrine to himself.”
